Rep Power: 10 | Re: Everyone, please help it will take a while at first. The best thing you can do is just try to get feedback from people. Just because people are looking at your site doesn't mean they are in the market to buy dog treats.
The thing about business is that you just need to keep plugging along and doing what you gotta do; making small changes here and there to improve it.
175 people isn't very much. If thats all you have gotten, then you haven't done very much advertising; or the advertising isn't very effective. Plus, are they real people? When search engines crawl your site, they show up as hits as well; and there are over 300 different search engines out there.
As far as prices, how do they compare to your competitors? Know your competition. |

Rep Power: 10 | Re: Everyone, please help If you are able to get your product in a store, then I would jump all over that. Did you ever fix the shelf life of your treats?
Are these 176 page views? Unique Visitors? What pages are they viewing? Where are they geographically?
Why would you change your prices? Is your product worth less? |

website visitors are only going to buy your product when they want to. Plus, 176 page views could all be from one person, you. Don't pay attention to page views; pay attention to unique visitors. You will want to get hundreds of targeted UNIQUE visitors every day before you start seeing any real business. With that, your page views will probably be in the several thousands each day.
If your product is worth the price, then why would you lower its value? Not everyone is going to buy. In fact, only a small fraction of your website visitors will buy. You will be doing a good job if 1% buys; but thats after you are up and running. You are still starting out, so that number is going to be far less.
When you are marketing your website, it will only generate paying customers if your advertising is highly targeted to people who would actually buy your product. |

Rep Power: 19 | Re: Everyone, please help Your website looks quite good, and it's probably not hindering your sales. I'm sure you already know this, but internet sales is highly competitive regardless the niche you are in. If you want to improve your sales performance, here are a couple of things for you to consider.
First, find out who your competitors are and evaluate what they are doing. Conducting even a very minor evaluation may give you ideas you hadn't thought of. Even a simple Google search could give you valuable information. Where does their name pop up? How many times? Who's linking to them? Info like this is available for free through the search engines. If you want to get more sophisticated with your research, look into getting free analysis software. There are a bunch of 'em out there. WebCEO is a good one to take a look at.
One of the least understood aspects of internet sales is that it isn't a "build it and they will come" environment. A "brick and mortar" store can be relatively confident that people who come in will generally buy something. Unless you are selling gold bars for a buck, only a very small percentage of those visiting a website will ever buy. There are ways to change this, however.
The crucial aspect of internet sales is to set yourself apart from the rest of your competitors. There are a number of ways to do this. Again, checking out your competition is a good way to start. By far the best method is to begin creating a list of people who have visited your site. Once you started to put your list together, begin to create a relationship with them. People will always buy from those they know and those they trust. This is the absolute heart of selling through the internet. |

Hey thanks for the advice as far as my comp. i have looked at them a few times and i dont know how to make my self stand out anymore than i already do. But I will start a relationship with my customer talking to them then bringing up my website. What do you think about this idea i feel kind of silly about it, anytime i run into a person with a dog or at a dog park i want to hand out my business cards but i feel funny about it and akward anyway to fix this or better approch it? i feel that they arent going to be interested... |

Rep Power: 19 | Re: Everyone, please help Glad to assist. Since the internet is a numbers game, you might want to look for way to increase traffic to your site. The best way is to get others to link to your site. There a bunch of valid techniques for doing this. Just do a Google search to find them. No matter which method you choose, be sure that whomever is linking to you is in some way related to the products you are selling. In other words, getting a tire distributor to link to your site won't help you at all. (It actually may hurt you.) Also... avoid "link farms". These are just pages where you can post a link to your site. All search engines frown on this... and they might penalize you. You should consider adding a link page to your site as well. This way, you can reciprocate to those who link to your site by adding their links to your site. Related sites that link to one another works wonders!
Ok... now that you've built up an enormous amount of traffic to your site , you'll want to give your potential customers a reason to come back.... and hopefully buy from you. You have a section of your website titled, "Did you know", which is quite nice, I must add. Maybe you can take the information you have posted there and make a nice, short, report out of it. This can be valuable information for pet owners to have. Then you could put up a notice that this report is available, for FREE, with instructions that you'll send it to them if they request it. When they email their request to you, send them the report. Give 'em a week or so to read it and then send them another email asking them if they liked the report. This starts the relationship.
We'll actually be posting a report in the next week or so that describes techniques like this in much greater detail. |
