Some Management Questions to Consider - Does your management style need modification in any way to improve organization performance?
- Decisions that have gone badly recently and why.
- Surprises in the marketplace that you didn’t anticipate.
- What are your biggest competitor’s gains, strengths and weaknesses? Why?
- Do you spend enough time during the year planning? If no, why not?
- Are you dealing with some repetitive challenges or problems that just don’t seem to go away?
- Do you spend enough time in personal development?
- Do you spend enough time out from behind your desk?
- Are your goals for this year clear, written and communicated with understanding to those who will help you reach them?
- Has your corporate culture changed? How? Why?
- Is morale better, the same or worse now than in the past? Why?
- How would your employees say your organization has changed? Needs to change?
- Is the direction and strategy of your organization or department clear to everyone?
- Do you consider yourself an encourager or naysayer?
- What are you going to do differently this year to ensure your continued success?
- How does your organization need to change to better adapt to a changing world?
There are others, but these should start you thinking. Spend a lot of time contemplating these questions and I guarantee that this year will surpass your wildest dreams. Don’t bother with them, and you may be dealing with the same issues, problems, challenges, frustrations and stressors as you have in the past.
These could all be summarized with three simple questions.
- What is working and why?
- What isn’t working and why not?
- What did you do in the past that worked – that you have stopped doing or changed?
